Californian entrepreneur Doug Richard, 52, appeared on the panel in the first two series of BBC 2’s Dragons’ Den in 2005, but left to found the School for Startups, in partnership with leading UK universities, the Royal Institution and the British Library in 2008.
In 2006, Richard was the first American to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion. In May 2008, he published his investigation into the UK government’s support of small businesses in The Richard Report.
