I'm looking forward to see how you develop the online community around School For Startups. I've attended two offline S4S events recently, which have been instrumental in accelerating our business development strategy. If you can mirror the energy and usefulness of the offline events to online....you'll be on to a winner!

Thanks for the kind word and the suggestions. We will be working to expand our online offerings in the weeks to come and the website redevelopment (Thanks Jack :) is core to that effort.

Online instruction is a different animal than face to face instruction and we're still studying how to create the best solutions. The surgeries are useful because people hear other people talk about their businesses, and about specific problems . . . and somehow watching people deal with something (even if they don't get through it while you watch) lets you see your own issues in context.

When someone comes up and can't introduce their business well enough that you want to know more, you notice. You realize, "Well heck, folks shouldn't have to 'guess' what the heck I do for a living." So you realize you have to come up with a line to introduce yourself. When they have intellectual property they want to protect, and yet can't tell you enough to explain their business you realize "OK, my intellectual property issues and concerns about idea theft can't prevent me from being able to pitch my project."

So the surgeries are a great teaching tool. People are starting to get that this is _not_ the Dragons Den. We're not here to vet people. We're here to help.

Now we are thinking about how to address more topics, and more advanced topics in an online environment . . .

To say we are driven is to understate how passionate we are about getting it right. :) With help from our community, we will.
