Nick Ogden, an internet pioneer, created business.co.uk as one of the first domains in the UK when the commercial internet was being established in 1994. In November 2010 Ogden was nominated and won UK Entrepreneur of the Year at the National Business Awards and it was further to this that he decided to turn business.co.uk into a not-for-profit portal to help and support entrepreneurs in setting up their own business. As well as creating a network for new businesses, the portal provides its members with access to discounts/offers/incentives through signed up partner companies including [to be updated]. The initiative will later progress into an interactive platform where businesses and consumers can search, buy and sell goods at a regional and local level.
Through the creation of business.co.uk, established companies are creating an environment that cultivates new business growth in the UK to help boost the economic recovery.
