The inspiration of serial entrepreneur and angel investor Doug Richard, School for Startups is the UK’s leading provider of business training for entrepreneurs. We provide accelerated business training that helps entrepreneurs launch more successful startups and run more successful businesses. Our face to face and online instruction covers topics like how to start a business, how to find investors, how to design great products and services, how to implement fast, cost-effective marketing strategies, how to build effective management teams and how to scale a business safely. Our business networking events connect small businesses to create supportive, self-sustaining communities.
School for Startups’ overarching mission is to create a vibrant, dynamic culture and economy in the UK that supports and promotes innovation and entrepreneurialism. Our aim is to increase the number of innovative small businesses in the UK and provide them with access to world class business advice to help them succeed.
During 2008 we helped more than 1000 budding entrepreneurs by running a series of highly interactive one-day business courses across the UK. The courses, entitled “How to Start a New Business” and “Entrepreneurial Economics”, aimed to lead attendees from the initial evaluation of their business idea right through to selecting a business model and identifying suitable sources of funding.
By partnering with some of the UK’s leading universities and Regional Development Agencies (RDA’s) we ensured that each event was promoted both at local and regional level. As a result every course was attended by between 150 and 250 entrepreneurs. The project proved a terrific success. Overall more than 90% of attendees rated the courses “Very good / excellent”.
